Don’t Ask play Morganfest 2012 and No1 Marylebone

November 5, 2012

Two significant gigs for 2012 have been Morganfest Open air Music Festival (Biggin Hill) a public gig which kicked off at 1.30pm and finished at 8pm and a prestigious wedding for 220 people which was held at one of London’s premier venues, Number One Marylebone.

Morganfest 2012: 9 different Bands played this year and helped to raise £2,500 for Charity. Don’t Ask were responsible for much of the organisation and their PA and sound equipment was used. The stage was larger this year to accommodate 4 different drum kits and general stage set ups between the various bands. As the sun went down audience and musicians alike were treated to a rare acoustic appearance by the hugely popular Press to Meco. Normally associated with the heavier style of rock music, the guys performed some of their original songs in an acoustic format. A terrific day was had by all and the indicators are that the 6th annual Morganfest will be on our gig list next year.

Number One Marylebone: September 1st 2012 Don’t Ask was booked to play a prestigious wedding at the renowned London Venue Number One Marylebone. With a 9am set up, this was without doubt the band’s biggest wedding gig to date. A large stage set up with 3 dedicated lighting techs and Jamie (one of our sound engineers), we expanded the musical personnel to include Phil Evans on percussion and saxes and Pete Cooper on trumpet and flugelhorn. Laura Parker our regular saxophonist/flautist wrote some special brass arrangements for many of the songs performed during the evening. The band’s audio set up was used and the recorded music played during the wedding breakfast was compiled on computer by Martin (Don’t Ask’s Musical Director). The Speeches were all handled using strategically placed speakers in the huge venue so as not to affect the ambience and stunning look that had been created using fabulous lighting.
